Art History

Art History courses at Morley College London enable you to explore a variety of themes and ideas from the past and present. Our programme studies a wide range of art forms including paintings, sculpture, architecture and photography.

Classes take place in London’s galleries and museums, where you can examine the works up close, and in our centres where you will discuss works from Morley’s collections and by looking at projected images. Whether you wish to study for fun, want to contextualise your practice as an artist or are considering going to university, we have a course for you.

Our team of specialist tutors are experienced in a wide range of subject areas, from the art and architecture of Byzantium to London. You’ll learn about a range of subjects including the paintings of Renaissance Italy, 17th century Flemish art, Japanese ceramics, African textiles and contemporary British Art.

Morley’s Art Collection

Did you know that Morley has an art collection on permanent display? This includes works by Edward Bawden, John Piper, Bridget Riley, Maggi Hambling and Denzil Forrester. We also have regular exhibitions in the Morley Gallery and other spaces across our centres, which aim to support the creative development of artists. Our displays, exhibitions and art collection are publicly accessible and can be visited during college opening hours.

Take part by coming to private views, workshops and talks on the artists and works on display. See Morley Exhibitions to find out what’s on!
