Urban Line Dance

With Morley College Waterloo Urban Line Dance, a Tuesday lunchtime practical dance course of one hour per session, you will learn and practise a variety of short, choreographed dance sequences each week, using different moods and melodies. Accompanied by soul, jazz and rhythm and blues musical genres, develop your ease of movement whilst testing physical and mental agility. As the term progresses, you'll build up a repertoire of repeating line dance sequences - guided by your tutor, and set to different tracks of music. Join us for the sheer fun of moving to music as you get fit - right in the middle of your day!

Class format and activities

We will start with 5 minutes of simple, rhythmical action set to music for warm-up. Across the sessions, we will combine the learning of new, short sequences with the revision of previously learnt sequences.

Learning Outcomes

  • 01: Have learnt and memorized a minimum of six short sequences of movement
  • 02: Perform the short sequences accurately and in rhythm
  • 03: Add your own style of action as you dance the sequences
  • 04: Have gained the stamina to sustain an hour of movement (with breaks) of class action
  • 05: Combine short sequences to perform longer sequences

Course entry requirements

This class is open to all. We will be able to adapt movement to suit particular learning needs.

This course is for fun and increasing fitness.

Soft-soled shoes, comfortable clothing and a bottle of water
