T Level in Health Level 3

The Level 3 technical qualification in Health will provide you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training or study within the health and science sector. T Levels are new, two-year (1800 hours), technical study programmes, designed with employers to give young people the skills that industry needs. This qualification has been developed in collaboration with employers, leading health and science sector bodies, and expert practitioners which has ensured these technical qualifications reflect the needs of the health and science sector and specialist occupations they serve – in turn supporting your preparation for work or further study in the sector. The T Level qualification in Health will include the following mandatory elements: 1. a ‘core’ set of underpinning knowledge, concepts and skills: ‘core content’. The core content for the Health T Level will cover the following areas - working within health and science, human health, safety and environmental regulations, managing information and data, good scientific and clinical practice, and core science concepts 2. specialist content covering occupational or industry-specific skills: ‘occupational specialist content’ 3. industry placement with an employer (420 hours) In addition to this, maths, English, and general digital skills will be integrated within the qualification in occupationally relevant contexts.

Class format and activities

Classes will be held in person at our North Kensington Centre and will feature a range of activities to support your learning including presentations, discussions, group work, case studies and projects. The core knowledge and understanding are assessed through an externally set examination and core skills through a practical employer-set project. This will encompass approximately 50% of the qualification time and will be graded A*-E and U. The occupational specialism is assessed through synoptic assessment of performance outcomes. This will be graded as Distinction, Merit, Pass or ungraded. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

Course entry requirements

You should hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 5 or above, including English, Maths, and a Science.

What you need to know before you enrol

The course will run over 2 years and will run from the beginning of September to the end of June in each academic year. Excellent attendance and punctuality will be required to complete the course successfully. Due to the volume of scientific ideas and principles covered, as well as their applications, students should be prepared for significant individual study outside of lessons.

What to bring to class

You should arrive to your lessons prepared to learn with pens, pencils and a writing pad. You should also invest in a ruler, some graph paper and a scientific calculator. All other resources and materials you need will be provided. In the event of teaching moving online, you will need a computer with internet access.

What you can do next

On successful completion of the course you will be able to progress into employment into a range of occupations in the health and social care sector, including healthcare support roles. The qualification can also be used to gain entry to a degree programme in a healthcare aligned specialism at a range of universities.
