This study programme allows you to take a practical and customer-focused approach to your learning in a vocational travel and tourism context. It covers the key principles of the industry, including global destinations, customer service, travel planning and the UK tourism sector, with a strong emphasis on real-world application and transferable skills. The course provides an engaging, robust and broad introduction to the travel and tourism industry, making use of interactive learning environments and industry-relevant resources. You will explore how the sector operates, the importance of delivering excellent customer experiences, and the factors that influence travel and tourism on both a national and global scale. The underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills that you will develop have been designed to reflect the needs of employers within the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Travel and Tourism adopts a dynamic and applied structure, allowing you to combine theoretical learning with practical activities such as planning trips, researching destinations and developing customer service scenarios. To ensure sufficient breadth and depth, the Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism includes four mandatory units and six optional units.
