This study programme allows you to take a practical and performance-focused approach to your learning in a vocational sporting context. It covers the key principles of sport, including fitness, training, health, and participation, with a strong emphasis on developing practical skills and real-world application. You will explore how the body responds to exercise, how to improve performance, and the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle. The course provides an engaging, robust and broad introduction to the sport and active leisure sector, making use of modern sports facilities and specialist equipment. The underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills that you will develop have been designed to reflect the needs of employers within the sport, fitness and coaching industries. Sport adopts a dynamic and applied structure, allowing you to combine theoretical learning with hands-on experience. To ensure sufficient breadth and depth, the Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Sport includes three mandatory units and seven optional units.
