BTEC Introductory Award in Vocational Studies Entry Level Pearson

This course offers young ESOL learners the chance to build real-life skills in communication, organisation, and teamwork while exploring entrepreneurship and sustainability. Through hands-on projects and enrichment activities such as visits to the Museum of Brands and community-led fundraising, learners will grow in confidence and independence. The course supports key skills such as planning, time management, presentation, critical thinking, and active citizenship. Learners will achieve a Pearson BTEC Entry Level 3 or Level 1 Introductory Award in Vocational Studies, depending on the level of the units studied and completed.

Class format and activities

This course is delivered in person at our North Kensington Centre. Learners will build vocabulary, fluency, and confidence using ESOL scaffolding and a variety of resources. Activities include: air and group work Creative tasks such as mood boards and branding Presentations and pitches Visits (e. g. Museum of Brands, food bank drive, London Zoo) Research tasks and role plays Independent and supported project work

  • 04: Pitch a business idea to an audience using presentation skills.

Course entry requirements

This course is designed for ESOL learners aged 16–18 who are working at ESOL Entry 3 or above. There are no formal entry requirements, but all applicants will complete a language assessment and interview to ensure the course is a good fit.

What you need to know before you enrol

This course requires attendance 3 days per week, and learners must commit to completing work both in and out of class, including Work Experience. You will need to attend all enrichment activities and complete independent homework tasks (up to 1 hour a week). Excellent attendance and punctuality (90% minimum) is expected of all students.

What to bring to class

A notebook and folder, pens and highlighters. Access to a phone or computer for research and presentations.

What you can do next

This course is designed to help you settle into your new learning environment, grow in confidence, and discover your interests. It will give you a strong foundation in communication, organisation and teamwork — skills that are important in all areas of life, study and work. After this course, you may be able to: Progress to ESOL Level 1 or Level 2; a Level 2 vocational course in a subject that interests you (e. g. Business, Health and Social Care, Art and Design, IT, etc. ); continue learning English and other skills at Morley; take part in volunteering, work experience or community projects; explore your future goals and next steps with support from your tutor. This course is a springboard into your future — whether that’s further study, training, or employment.
